Create Sulfurous Acid on Site

 

Generators from SO2 Solutions enable customers to control their soil and water quality by creating sulfurous acid on site, using a process that is safe, simple and straight forward.  The process in its simplest form requires only pressurized water and sulfur.  After intense treatment, the water leaves the generator as sulfurous acid, a mild acid with a pH similar to lemon juice or vinegar.  The sulfurous acid then blends with the remaining irrigation water to provide an overall pH of 6.5 to 7.0.

 

Irrigating with water treated with sulfurous acid:

 

· Opens up bound soil that is high in bicarbonates.

· Improves water infiltration and permeability.

· Reacts with calcium precipitates, enabling the calcium to displace sodium from soil so it leaches through the root zone.

· Controls algae in the irrigation lake and removes algae and calcium deposits from drip lines and sprinkler heads.

 

Benefits of Sulfurous Acid

 

Sulfurous acid is very effective in reducing the pH of irrigation water and the amount of bicarbonates.  Over time, bicarbonates combine with calcium in soil to form calcium carbonate.  This seals up soil pore spaces and prevents moisture and nutrients from adequately reaching the root structure of turf and plants.  Sulfurous acid not only reduces bicarbonates, but also breaks down deposits of calcium carbonate.  This frees up the calcium to displace sodium from the soil.

 

Sulfurous acid is also effective in controlling algae, another problem common with irrigation water, especially if its effluent water.  In fact, a number of sites have obtained generators for the primary purpose of controlling algae.

 

One of the drawbacks with existing generators is the vapor they emit, which is unsightly and contains a sulfur odor.  This can be a problem if people or homes are in the vicinity.  The traditional generators are also unattractive and have a “chemical factory” appearance.  Our patent-pending GreenMachine^TM Generator, on the other hand, attractively blends into the scenery and emits no vapor.
